Quote of the week:
The problem is not that there are problems. The problem is expecting otherwise and thinking that having problems is a problem...

Rev. Run
I've never been a rap fan but I'm a big fan of "Run's House" on MTV. Besides the fact that I am Jealous of the fact that he can make a clerical collar look cool...while driving a Bentley...I really admire the way he leads and loves his family. I heard him say something in a recent interview that really sort or stuck in my head...
He said, "I'm a Reverend but I don't run a church, My whole ministry is to show the love of Jesus in my life whether I am with my family or on tour with Kid Rock...the cameras just catch the action and spread it around" (my paraphrase)
I'm pretty sure that's the "point" for all of us...whether we are a "Reverend" or not... Well said, Rev. Run.

Quote(s) of the week -whiteboard edition
Here's some stuff that still has me thinking from being at the whiteboard conference yesterday. (I know...my hand writing is so jacked up that it looks like the "uni-bomber manifesto" when every I take notes...at least I can read it...sort of.
"Our very best theories will be amended due to paradigm shifts"
"We all underestimate God-our dreams are too small"- Mark Batterson
"The most messed up people of his time wanted to hang out with Jesus...do the most messed up people of our time want to go to church and hang out with us?- Vince Antonucci (I hope so...that's kind of the point of actionchurch...a place where everyone can be accepted...)
"The public is unaware, unimpressed, and unchanged by the message of the church today..." Tim Stevens
"At the root of every sin is the desire for Power, Comfort, Approval, or Control" -Darrin Patrick
"Spiritual Growth should be "normal" in a church..." -Mark Dever
"Stay connected (to Jesus) and "fruit happens"- John Burke
"Be obedient to God and let him handle the results"- Perry Noble
"Sometimes the most "mature" thing you can say to someone who is suffering is "I don't know" (why this is happening)- Ed Stetzer

Quote of the week:
"Don't tell people how to do things, tell them what to do and let them surprise you with their results."
-George S. Patton
I love this quote and I love the results of telling people "where we are going" and then being surprised at the way we get there...It's always better than the way I would have done it! That's why I'm passionate about "empowering" our crew members instead of "training" them... (link)

Quote of the week:
"The church, at best, fell asleep. It might be fair to say that we lost the power to transform culture. We accommodated to a culture that was, for us, user-friendly...The church was no longer the shaper of modern culture, but, in fact, modern culture had become the shaper of the church. This should be our great awakening. The world changed, and we didn't. The world changed for the worse becuase we didn't change at all....the world waits for the church to once again become God's agent of change." Erwin McManus

Quote of the Week:
Persistence isn't using the same tactics over and over. That's just annoying.
Persistence is having the same goal over and over.

"You know what? You know what? You look beautiful...and I...when I...when you open your mouth such a beautiful tone comes....Stop that Simon! I just want to pinch your cheeks and make you live with my Chihuahua's... I just love the colors you proceed...Don't ever go stopping changing...you are just wonderful!

Quote of the week:
I'm friends with everybody in this office. We're all best friends. I love everybody here. But sometimes your best friends start coming into work late and start having dentist appointments that aren't dentist appointments, and that is when it's nice to let them know that you could beat them up. - Michael Scott
Bonus quote: Yes. It is true. I, Michael Scott, am signing up with an online dating service. Thousands of people have done it, and I am going to do it. I need a username, and... I have a great one. "Little Kid Lover". That way people will know exactly where my priorities are at. -Michael Scott
No extra charge for that one...

Quote of the week:
“You can’t build a reputation on what you are going to do.”~Henry Ford
...and that is why actionchurch can never become about "learning facts" or having "cool" or "edgy" church services...our "main business" must alway be to motivate people to put the teachings of Jesus into action in their community, work and homes.
